Bad Dentistry - Poorly Done Root Canal Causes Pain

What follows below is a real case study submitted by a reader of this website. It describes how their health was harmed by bad dentistry.

I had a root canal. It was not painful so my dentist said I can wait. I moved to another town. I decided to go on two weeks vacation all the way to other end of the world, India. I bought my ticket and the trip was for more than $3ooo non refundable. Four days before the trip my molar with the root canal started to hurt. I went to the dentist on duty and he told me that I should get my root canal done before leaving on vacation. There is no other way, he said I could not wait for two weeks.

He did the root canal which I found very uncomfortable. The assistant took four x-rays after he finished the job. As soon as the numbness had gone my tooth was so painful. The dentist told me the tooth next to the one he worked on is also broken and I should get it pulled it out at the same time. Four days before my 24 hour flight all alone. Anyway I refused to get the tooth pulled out. He said if you get pain then it won't be the tooth that he worked on but the next tooth that is half broken. He gave me antibiotics but told me take it only after a few days.

As soon as the plane was in the air my tooth started to kill me. It was soo painful I took one pain killer but it took time for it to have an effect. After two days I reached my destination in pain, swelling. One of my flights was 12 hours straight. As soon as I arrived I went to see the dentist in India. He told me the tooth he worked on is bothering me and asked me to start antibiotics and after that he will drain. After taking antibiotics for two days I started to feel much better. By the time my five days antibiotics were finished, it was time to return home from the trip

I think my dentist should have given me pain killers and antibiotics instead of operating on my root canal. He charged me $1000 and said the job is half done and he will do the rest of work on my return from vacation and will charge another $1000. I am a 60 year old woman. Anyway I am going to go to another dentist for the rest of the work to be done on this tooth.

Why Bad Dentistry?

I decided to create an area on my website to focus on bad dentistry. Many people have kept quiet about the mistreatment of their teeth by dentists. I do not encourage people to avoid dentists, but in order to get people to go to the dentist, the dentist must provide excellent care. Unfortunately most do not. This list can help you find a good dentist.

Modern dentistry, in general, damages our teeth. It drills away too much healthy tooth structure. It places toxic materials in our mouths, and recommends treatments that don't last over the long term. Moving beyond bad dentistry means using the book, Cure Tooth Decay, to help you remineralize your cavities naturally.

You can submit a story about how dentistry has negatively harmed your life by sending an e-mail to: testimonial@curetoothdecay.com
Make sure to include the name you want posted on your testimonial, a little bit about yourself, and how you were harmed by bad dentistry. You do not need to remain silent about the harm done to your mouth. Because I do not want to be in the middle of any type of dispute I will not post the name of the bad dentist.
