Bad Dentistry - Large Holes Drilled

What follows below is a real case study submitted by a reader of this website. It describes how their health was harmed by bad dentistry.

I am Regina, living in Austria. Thank you for making it possible for people to share their story and point of view.

I was treated by a dentist (Austria) when I was at the age of about 15 years. This dentist had the reputation of being an excellent one, and my mother took me there as she had a lot of dental treatments herself at this doctor.
The dentist did some x-rays and told me that all my teeth (molars) were with caries. (By that time, all teeth except one were without cavities or drilling). There was no caries or spots visible on most teeth, but it should have been on the sides which are hidden by the neighbouring tooth (you can say, "between" the teeth).

He then made a "street" through all the molars and put amalgam on all the teeth. I didn't know anything about this matter at the age of 15, as you can imagine, and so it happened. Also, my teeth always were standing tight together, as my gums were too small during my childhood.

I must say that the fillings were made in a very good way, they really did last for a very long time. But one day it's over, and you can imagine that the loss of tooth-material is horrible... Some other dentists later on were astonished about the many and deep stoppings in my teeth.

Also I have no "proof" that the dentist took away more material than necessary. The terrible thing was that he took away lots of material from the above side, where there was no caries or anything like that visible! I also don't know exactly, whether there was another possibility to reach the sides of the teeth, which were looking towards the neighbour-teeth. Maybe with todays technologies one could have a better chance.

Well, that's a horror-story for you (also for me). As the dentist was in Austria, and also he is not working anymore, it is maybe not useful to bring his name on the official side. With this story I just want to give the advice, always to look for more than one opinion and to look for any possibility to avoid losing too much material of your teeth!

As you can imagine, the situation for me is now how to keep my teeth under any circumstances. That is why I also wanted to ask, if you have any contacts or knowledge concerning the matter of regrowing teeth (which were removed). I know some people in Europe who deal with it, also they had success already (but it takes leastly two years I guess). They act via nutrition, healthy living and meditation.
Anyway, the number of people who are interested in this matter seems to be growing rapidly. If you would have any contacts about this in the US, that would be great!

Thank you for all your work and advice!

The procedure for placing mercury fillings requires holes to be drilled that are much larger than necessary. Even still, this sounds like a more extreme case.

Why Bad Dentistry?

I decided to create an area on my website to focus on bad dentistry. Many people have kept quiet about the mistreatment of their teeth by dentists. I do not encourage people to avoid dentists, but in order to get people to go to the dentist, the dentist must provide excellent care. Unfortunately most do not. This list can help you find a good dentist.

Modern dentistry, in general, damages our teeth. It drills away too much healthy tooth structure. It places toxic materials in our mouths, and recommends treatments that don't last over the long term. Moving beyond bad dentistry means using the book, Cure Tooth Decay, to help you remineralize your cavities naturally.

You can submit a story about how dentistry has negatively harmed your life by sending an e-mail to: testimonial@curetoothdecay.com
Make sure to include the name you want posted on your testimonial, a little bit about yourself, and how you were harmed by bad dentistry. You do not need to remain silent about the harm done to your mouth. Because I do not want to be in the middle of any type of dispute I will not post the name of the bad dentist.
